Hikurangi Show Apartment

Pacific Coast Village’s Hikurangi Apartments are on schedule to be completed in September with the show apartment now open for viewing by appointment.

These well-appointed one and two bedroom serviced apartments provide an option for residents who need some assistance with everyday domestic tasks such as cleaning and cooking.

Assisted living services start with the Hospitality package and additional services can be supplemented as required to cater for residents’ changing needs.  All apartments include electricity, telephone and internet connection, and rubbish collection. Residents also have access to all the village facilities and activities.

The 36 apartments will have a neutral décor with three choices of curtains. “They are a lovely warm space that people will be able to make their own,” says Design and Procurement Executive Clea Chambers.  Shared spaces will have a “beachy, Hamptons look”, she says.  “There will be lots of wood, rattan, blues,
paisleys and plaids. It will be very modern with a similar feel to The Beach House.”

Village Manager Carl Braddock says an added bonus of living in the Hikurangi Apartments will be their proximity to The Beach House, the village’s main community facility, which includes the all-day Bloom Eatery and Lounge, The Grill à-la-carte restaurant, Beach House bar, activity room, movie theatre and hair salon, as well as a range of general activity areas.

Newly appointed Health Services Manager Janet Commins will head up the Hikurangi Apartments, as well as a new residential care facility providing rest home and hospital level care which will complete the village facilities.  A registered nurse, Janet has a long history of working with older people in both hospital and community-based care in community and village settings. She has been involved in many clinical community projects and management of facilities and villages.

Janet has contributed to the design of the Hikurangi Apartments and residential care facility and believes they will provide the companionship and security that many people are missing in the community.  “It’s comforting to know there is a call bell available if you need help, and someone there to help with meals, laundry and maintenance. The socialisation gives people something to look forward to each day.  “The proximity of the apartments to The Beach House also provides a sense of living in a welcoming and supportive community.”
