Artist Profile - Estelle Jarvis
28 March 2019A rich tapestry of creativity
Fabric has enormous potential in the right hands; Estelle Jarvis makes magic with it. Fortunately for art-lovers and attendees at the Arts Canterbury exhibition being held Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 March, from 10am-3pm, at the Russley Village, they can invest in one or more of her amazing artworks.
The pièce de résistance in every one of her pieces, fabric enables Estelle to create outstanding contemporary art. “I have been interested in crafts and working with fabric for many years. All of my work is in glass frames. There are a lot of lovely fabrics out there that you can use to make great designs. I use proper craft fabric because I roll my work as well.”
The recipient of three accolades for her creations including Best in Show for an exhibition, Estelle’s multi-award winning creative career is just one of the ways she contributes to an industry she loves so much. “I’m on the committee for Arts Canterbury and we try to help foster the arts for everyone. This is about providing support for all artists. I’m excited about the upcoming exhibition, this is a new venue and experience for us.”
